Payroll Administrators and Payroll Lead

We are now recruiting for a number of Payroll Administrators and a Payroll Lead to work in our accountancy practice based in Crewkerne.

These positions could be full-time/part-time and be a hybrid of working in the office and working from home remotely, after the initial period to understand the company and our clients.

Candidates will need to be experienced in payroll administration.

The key responsibilities will include:

  • Setting up and processing new and existing payrolls on a weekly/fortnightly/monthly basis
  • Adding new payroll clients to the system and creating their account with HMRC
  • Processing all payroll and submitting RTI reports to HMRC
  • Processing starters and leavers
  • Issuing employee payslips and a breakdown summary to each client
  • Calculating and ensuring the weekly and monthly submissions of auto-enrolment pensions
  • Calculating and reconciling PAYE payments and Attachment of Earning Orders
  • Liaising with pension scheme providers to ensure all clients pension arrangements are in order
  • Dealing with enquires from HMRC and client
  • Ensuring all statutory filing deadlines are met

The Payroll Lead role’s key responsibilities in addition to the above would be:

  • Taking the lead in the department
  • Solving more complex payroll queries
  • Ensuring compliance is up to date

The candidates will have:

  • Good working knowledge of payroll including statutory deductions
  • Excellent word and outlook skills, intermediate excel skills
  • Fast payroll, word processing and good computer literacy skills

The candidates should:

  • Be able to work calmly to tight deadlines
  • Be an excellent communicator, resolving issues with clients and HMRC Be accurate and organised
  • Be able to work flexibly and to use their own initiative
  • Be able to work in a team

At least one year’s experience is required for the payroll administrator role and at least three years’ experience for the payroll lead role
